There’s nothing wrong with the standard kale chip recipe. But, nutritional yeast takes kale chips to a whole new level – a level that merits obsession and daily consumption. Nutritional Yeast makes kale chips taste almost like Doritos!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch washed Dino or your favorite organic kale, chopped into small pieces with the ribs removed.

  • ½ cup Nutritional yeast

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • Pinch hot chili pepper (season to taste)

  • 1 tsp. sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl.

  2. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

  3. Line a large jelly roll with parchment paper.

  4. Spread a thin layer of the kale mixture on the parchment paper.

  5. Bake for about 25 minutes until crunchy and enjoy.

Bonus Recipe - Crazy Sexy Kale Chips!

Go kale! Kale Chips (crispy wisps of the dehydrated leafy green) are now all the rage. The concept is simple: cover the kale in a thick cream made from nuts and seeds or olive oil and herbs and dehydrate or bake until crisp. If you use your imagination, they taste like Doritos!

Ingredients:

  • 3 bunches kale

  • 2 ¼ cups cashews, soaked in 3 cups purified water for at least 4 to 5 hours

  • 1 ½ cups purified water

  • 2 medium cloves garlic

  • ¼ cup onion powder

  • 2 ½ tsp. sea salt

  • ½ tsp. black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Remove kale ribs (save for juicing or just eat whole as crunchy snacks.) Tear the leaves into large pieces, approximately the size of your palm. Wash thoroughly and spin dry.

  2. Drain cashews. In a high-speed blender, blend with the remaining ingredients. The final product should be smooth and creamy and resemble a thick dressing. In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly coat the kale pieces with the cream.

  3. On a dehydrator tray fitted with parchment paper, place coated kale, leaving enough room for air to circulate around them. For this recipe it’s best to have at least a full 9-tray dehydrator to accommodate all the chips, skipping every other level so the chips do not get crushed.

  4. You can also cook these overnight in a 250°F. oven for about 4 to 5 hours. Make sure that the chips are spread in a single layer.

  5. Dehydrate overnight for at least 13 hours until kale pieces are crisp and light.
